About us The Association of Friends of the Romanian National History Museum was founded in March 2008 to support the museum's activities and to help initiate new projects that would increase the institution's visibility at national and international level and amplify its role in promoting the Romanian historical and cultural identity. The organization mainly pursues cultural heritage promotion related activities, focusing on historical monuments and museum collections.
Projects
Bucharest's historical monuments interactive map (www.apmnir.ro/map.php)
The project was initiated in August 2008 and mapped all of Bucharest's 2400 historical monuments, also featuring pictures and comments provided by the visitors themselves (pictures are currently available for about 2000 monuments). The website is bilingual and provides a large variety of search filters (name, location, period, category, significance, district).
Romania's Historical Monuments interactive project (www.monumenteromania.ro)
Initiated in 2009 and built upon the official list of ~20.000 entries, with over 6800 photographed until now - a total of ~24000 pictures, all provided on an open, Wikipedia-like basis, by visitors.
Historical monuments from Bucharest, Curtea de Argeș and Câmpulung Muscel - exit from anonymity
Historical buildings from Bucharest (396), Curtea de Argeș (48) and Câmpulung Muscel (91), were inscribed with trilingual descriptive plates in 2010-2012.
